What is and isn’t an Open Records Request
What Isn’t Considered an Open Records Request:
- Questions and Inquiries: Requests for answers to questions or for the agency to provide information in response to inquiries. Open records requests are for documents, not for the creation of new information or answering questions. If you have a question about a department, please email the department leadership.
- Opinions and Interpretations: Requests for legal opinions, interpretations of laws, or explanations of policies are not covered under open records requests.
- Non-Record Information: Requests for information that is not recorded in any format. For instance, asking for verbal explanations or summaries of events that are not documented.
