Sherri L. Washington, Post I

Commissioner, Post I

Sherri L. Washington was elected to the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners in November 2016 and took office January 1, 2016. She is a general practice attorney and founder of The Washington Law Group, PC. She earned her Bachelors and Master’s Degree from Savannah State University and then went on to obtain her Law Degree from Texas Southern University.


Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr.


Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr., a native of Augusta, Georgia, is married to Robernett Nesbitt and they have two girls and two boys to their union. Chairman Nesbitt has served 15 years in Law Enforcement, studied at Voorhees College and is a member of the uplift organization 100 Black Men of America. He’s an award-winning speaker of Toastmasters International, the East Atlanta Networking Social, and the Who’s-Who Auto Sales Professionals.


Doreen Williams, Post II

Commissioner, Post II

Dr. Doreen Williams was elected to the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners in November 2014 and took office January 1, 2015. She is a former small business owner and retired educator with a diverse educational background. She earned her Doctor of Education from Georgia Southern University in curriculum studies with concentrations on the role and influence of effective governments. Her master’s degree from Walden University concentrated on the effective use of technology. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Brigham Young University.

Rockdale County Courthouse Remains Open for Essential Court Business

PUBLIC NOTICE Revision Date: April 3, 2020 The Rockdale County Courthouse remains open for essential court business during the public health emergency.  Every division of the Rockdale County Clerk of Superior and State Courts Office will be open for business Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however access to each service area will be restricted to scheduled appointments only. ROCKDALE COUNTY PRESS RELEASE ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – Rockdale County is celebrating its 150th anniversary and is asking residents to join in by creating and submitting videos explaining what makes Rockdale County so special! Rockdale County Reopening the Tennis Courts with USTA Tennis Center Grant

Rockdale County Government is set to reopen the tennis courts and the Rockdale Tennis Center with modified services on June 8, 2020.  The Rockdale Tennis Center has been awarded a $5,000 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Facility Recovery Grant Award to assist in reopening the facility.  The grant will help defray some of the tennis-related expenses associated with reopening the tennis center.
