  • IMPORTANT NOTICE:  The Rockdale County Recycling Center accepts garbage, furniture, woody debris, and other items from Rockdale County/City of Conyers residents only. The wood pile closes daily at 4:30 p.m. Please call ahead to ensure the wood pile is open for drop off.  The phone number is 770-278-7212, Option 1.
    Thank you for your cooperation. The Recycling Center is operated by Rockdale County for the benefit and convenience of all Rockdale County and City residents. It was opened in September 1993 following the closure of the City/County landfill. The Recycling Center is for the use and convenience of the citizens of this community. Commercial haulers are not allowed and should refer to the Curbside Pickup & Landfills Information below.

Recycling Center Update:  

Attention residents: Important changes will be implemented at the Recycling Center. Effective February 1, 2026, a tag will be required for trash, bulk waste, and tree debris. Tags will be available for purchase starting December 2, 2025, at the Recycling Center or online (coming soon).  

A Full User Tag is NOT REQUIRED for recycling plastic, cardboard, glass, tires, and aluminum cans. 

Annual Fee: $150
Senior Citizens (60 and older): $100
Tags purchased after February 2026 will be prorated. 

Required documents: 

  1. A copy of a valid Georgia driver’s license or a state-issued ID 
  2. A utility bill, mortgage statement, rental agreement, or other documentation dated within the last 30 days to verify residency in Rockdale County.

Curbside Pickup and Landfill Information

Rockdale County residents may call a private service for curbside garbage/trash pickup. Curbside pickup is not provided by the County. (Note: If you live in the city limits of Conyers, click the following link

Household garbage/trash and recyclable materials may be dropped off at the Recycling Center for a nominal fee.

Landfills, Hazardous Waste Information & Transfer Stations:

Rockdale County does not operate a landfill.

Please consult the local telephone directory for a listing of landfills and scrap/recycling yards in the area.  These businesses accept most materials landfills and/or the Recycling Center cannot, and many times pay for certain items.

Recycling Items Accepted
  • Aluminum cans, Glass food / beverage bottles (Clear, Green, or Brown)
  • Corrugated cardboard, glossy magazines and catalogs, newspaper and advertising inserts
  • Plastic bottles, containers / jugs (#1 PETE & #2 HDPE)
  • Scrap Metal, appliances (without Freon Compressor) tin and steel food cans
  • Auto, Truck, or Farm tires with a limit of four (4) tires accepted per household per week (Tires must be removed from the rim)
  • All items must be cleaned with caps and lids removed. 

NOTE: Styrofoam and other packing materials are not recyclable.
The center does not recycle plastic bags – please utilize the recycling bins at your local grocery store.

Please have recyclable items rinsed and separated before depositing them at the center.

Trash and Bulk Waste Items Accepted:
  • Indoor household garbage and trash with a limit of ten (10) bags per household per week
  • Furniture, electronics, manufactured lumber, and other household bulk waste items with a limit of two (2) pickup
  • truck or residential trailer (max size 6ft x 10ft) loads per household per week
  • Mattress sets with a limit of one (1) per household per week
  • Small yard waste and woody debris (no stumps) with a limit of two (2) pickup truck or residential trailer (max size 6ft x 10ft) loads per household per week. Bagged yard waste must be emptied. (Tree Debris closes daily at 4:30 pm)
  • Latex paint (Provided that the paint cans are open and the paint is completely dried or filled with cat litter or oil dry)

Tree Debris – CLOSED EACH DAY AT 4:30 pm
The three debris area is only for leaves, limbs, grass clippings and logs. Your logs must be in a manageable size 4 ft length and up to 2.5 ft diameter max, we do not accept tree stumps, no exceptions. You are allowed to bring two loads per week. Debris that are in bags must be emptied out, do not leave bags in the tree debris area (plastic or paper.) Do not put trash or manufactured lumber in the tree debris area. Dump trucks and trailers over 12 ft long are not accepted. This center is for residential use only, no commercial use. If you come with a landscaping or tree service company logo on your truck or on your person you will not be allowed to dump. You must back up onto the concrete pad between the concrete barricade. Leave room for others to back up beside you. If there is a line, please be patient, and do not dump your debris in an unauthorized location to save you time. If mulch is left from the tree grinding it will be free to the residents however, we do not load the trucks and the mulch is self-serve if available. You may call to see if mulch is available. Please leave the area the same way you found it so that the next person can access it just as easily.
