Rockdale County Parks & Recreation to Host GRPA State Tournament

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – The Rockdale County Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting the 2025 Georgia Recreation & Park Association (GRPA) 14-U and 17-U Boys Youth Basketball State Tournament. This marks the first time the department has hosted a statewide athletic tournament. Over the past two years, the department has also hosted several GRPA district tournaments, including the 14-U and 17-U boys youth basketball consecutively.

The GRPA has a history of basketball tournaments for boys and girls at various age levels. The GRPA Map is broken down into seven (7) districts comprised of all 159 counties in the state of Georgia. The district in which Rockdale County belongs to, District 6, has 22 counties. Participating at the state level and hosting is a special opportunity for the winners of each district age division tournament to represent their community at the state level. GRPA State tournaments have been going on for the past 60 years or so.

“It’s a positive opportunity to financially stimulate the local economy and expose visitors from across GA to all the great amenities, shops, accommodations, and diversity in Rockdale County,” Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation Tahira Wilson.

Tournaments will be held Sat., March 7 and Sun., March 8, at the Johnson Park Recreation Center, 1781 Ebenezer Rd., Conyers, 30094, and JP Carr Gymnasium, 1090 Hardin St., Conyers, 30012. Team trophies will be awarded to 1st and 2nd Place teams. The admission fee is $8 for adults 18 and older, $4 for children 6-17 years old, free for kids 5 and under, and adults over 60. Concessions will be provided throughout the tournament.
