Rockdale County Lifts Shelter in Place for Entire County as Cleanup Progresses

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – The Rockdale County Emergency Management Agency (RCEMA) has lifted the shelter-in-place order for the entire county, following successful and continuous clean-up efforts. Rockdale County EMA and the Unified Command are aligned in recommending the lifting of the shelter in place to allow businesses, schools and the Rockdale County Community to resume normal activities. The decision comes after 72 hours of air monitoring showed no significant spikes, and there is no longer a visible plume. This includes the area within a two-mile radius of the BioLab facility.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to all the agencies, neighboring counties, and our first responders who have worked tirelessly during this time,” said Rockdale County Chairman Oz Nesbitt Sr. “While the physical clean-up is just the first step, we are pleased to see our community beginning to return to normal.”

Residents and business owners affected by the BioLab incident can seek assistance at the BioLab Community Assistance Center at 927 North Main Street NW, Conyers, GA 30012. Appointments can be scheduled online at BioLabCommunityResources.com, and a limited number of walk-in appointments are available daily on a first-come, first-served basis. For help with scheduling, please call BioLab’s hotline at (678) 301-2359.
