Kalanos V. Johnson is the Director of Planning and Development for Rockdale County and brings over 24 years of experience in both the public and private sector to the county. He is responsible for the operation, administration, financial management and intergovernmental relations for the comprehensive planning, development review, zoning administration, code enforcement, economic development, and inspection services divisions for Rockdale County.
Prior to Rockdale County, Mr. Johnson was the Director of Economic Development for the City of Fairburn where he directed and managed the economic development activities for the city by attracting new businesses and promoting existing businesses through business expansion and retention activities. His professional career also includes managing transportation planning projects with Jacobs Engineering and Wilbur Smith Associates, as well as providing business development and client relations with Delon Hampton and Associates. Additionally, he was the Vice Chairman of the Development Authority of Clayton County for six years.
Active in his local community, Mr. Johnson is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Clayton and a former board member of Arts Clayton. He earned his undergraduate degree from Fort Valley State University, a graduate degree in Planning from the University of Akron, as well as an MBA from Strayer University. In his spare time, Mr. Johnson enjoys reading, working out, and traveling.
