The Coroner is elected to serve a four-year term. The Coroner is George Levett.

The Office of the Coroner is charged with investigating deaths within Rockdale County if they fall within one of the following four categories:
1) Homicides
2) Suicides
3) Accidents, or
4) Unknown causes.

Once the cause of death is determined, the Coroner’s Office completes a death certificate and forwards the certificate to the Probate Court. Copies of death certificates may be obtained at Probate Court. The Coroner or a Deputy Coroner is available at all times, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for death investigation duty.
