John Moretto is the Director of Transportation for Rockdale County. As Transportation Director, he oversees the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the County’s transportation infrastructure, including the management and oversight of SPLOST roadway improvement projects.
Mr. Moretto is a Transportation Engineer with over 25 years of experience in highway design and construction. He is a Registered Engineer in Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Bluefield State College, West Virginia.
Mr. Moretto’s professional career includes two years working in the coal fields of West Virginia in the geotechnical field. He then moved to Georgia and served eleven years with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) as a road designer and traffic engineer at the Thomaston District Office. After leaving GDOT, he started his private industry career, joining CH2M Hill on the Clayton County SPLOST Program Management team.
In 2010, Mr. Moretto accepted international/overseas assignments, working with Bechtel and Parsons on program management and construction projects in Saudi Arabia and on the island of Guam. He helped engineer and master plan parts of the world’s longest running civil engineer program, and managed a roadway construction project in the heart of Riyadh, KSA for the world’s largest ongoing metro project.
Mr. Moretto is an avid international traveler, a scuba diving instructor, amateur underwater photographer, and a loving husband and father.
