The rain event from April 19 of this year was a rare event. The storm system brought heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms to much of north and central Georgia. The path of very heavy rainfall received a widespread 3 to 6 inch rainfall totals, in some places over 6 inches. This type of rain event typically happens every 150 to 200 years.
