The Conyers-Rockdale Planning Commission conducts public hearings, requests and receives studies and reports from staff, and reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners (BOC) concerning the matters brought before them. The Planning Commission is made up of seven members. Three members must be residents of unincorporated Rockdale and are appointed by the BOC. Three members must be residents of the City of Conyers and are appointed by the City Council. The seventh member is appointed by the BOC one term and by the City Council the following term.
In alternate years, the City Council and County Board of Commissioners appoints 2 members, one for a four-year term and the other for a three-year term. The seventh member serves a three-year term. No members are eligible to serve for more than two consecutive terms.
The Planning Commission meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Rockdale County Assembly Hall, except in the event of lack of business, in which case a public notice of the cancellation will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting.
