Water Aerobic Classes

Pamela Bennett Fitness: Aqua Zumba
Take the high energy, calorie-burning dance party workout that you love from Zumba and heat up the pool with Aqua Zumba.

Days & Times:   

Tuesdays & Thursdays:  10:30 a.m. & 6:00 p.m     

 Saturdays: 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Ages: 13 and up

Fee: $8 per class or $50 for a 10 class punch card

 

Wet Sets:

This class is designed for participants who are age 60+ and belong to the Olivia Haydel Senior Center.

Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays 

Times:  9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m.

Hydro Fit:


HydroFit, is an interval training class that will alternate between different equipment, such as noodles, water barbells, and aqua steps, to make each class fun and interesting.

Days: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays

Times: 9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m.

Fee: $50 per 18 visits – County residents and/or  $75 per 18 visits -Non-County residents

$5 per visit – County residents and/or  $7 per visit – Non-County residents


AquaFlex:

This is a medium-impact water class designed to provide cardiovascular conditioning, improved muscle tone, and improved balance.

Days: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays

Times:  10:00 a.m. – 10:50 am.

Fee: $50 per 18 visits – County residents and/or $75 per 18 visits – Non-County residents

$5 per visit – County residents and /or $7 per visit – Non-County residents

Basic Water Rescue

The American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to many types of aquatic emergencies. This course also prepares individuals for aquatic emergencies by teaching them how to protect themselves while assisting others. The Basic Water Rescue course does not provide participants with all the knowledge and skills needed to be certified as a lifeguard.

Day: June 2, July 28
Time: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Fee: $50

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites to be eligible for the Basic Water Rescue course. However, because there is an in-water skills session, it is recommended that participants are comfortable in chest deep water.

Youth Swim Lessons

Johnson Park Pool has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer their Learn-to-Swim Program. Each class must have a minimum of four participants to begin. Participants must preregister for all classes. All classes meet twice a week for four weeks.

Sessions for all Levels:      

  • March 6 – March 9
  • April 10 – May 3
  • May 15- June 7
  • June 19- July 12
  • July 24- August 16

Parent and Child Aquatics

Ages: 6 months to 3 years (one child per parent)

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 5 – 5:30 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75

Children will adjust to the water by learning skills such as placing the face in the water, flutter kicks and pre-floating skills. All parents are taught how to instruct their children and recognize any errors in their child’s swimming technique. Children are required to wear swim diapers. Parents must be in the water with their children. Instructors will work at the skill level of each child regardless of varied abilities.

 Preschool

Ages: 3-5

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 – 6 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75

 This class is for students 4 and 5 years old who are ready to learn introductory water skills as well as beginner swimming skills. Students will learn to enter the pool properly, float, glide and the basics of the front crawl and other Red Cross Swim levels.

 

Beginners

Ages: 6 and Up

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 6 – 6:45 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75

This class is for students 6 years and older. It introduces children to all levels of American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Lessons with little or no experience to basic swimming skills. Students will learn front crawl, rhythmic breathing and other Red Cross Swim levels.

 

 Intermediate/Advanced

Ages 6 and Up

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 7 – 7:45 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75

This class is for students 6 years and older who have completed the Beginners level as per instructor. Participants will need to be capable of completing one full length of the pool with rhythmic breathing and are comfortable in the water. Students will learn rotary breathing, endurance and correct the other strokes like back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

 

 

Advanced Class requirements:   Able to Swim Length of Pool

Classes may be added/dropped according to registration

Fee: $60 per session for County Residents

        $75 per session for Non-County Residents

Youth Swim Lessons follow the Red Cross Learn-to Swim instruction guidelines in which swimmers of all ages and varying abilities are helped in developing their swimming and water safety skills. A video may be included during swim lesson schedule.

Adult Swim Lessons

Level I Beginners- 10:15am: This class is for students who have little or no experience of basic swimming skills.  Class teaches basic swim skills, floating, gliding, flutter kick, and the basics of the front crawl.

Level II Beginners- 11am: This class is for students who are proficient with Level I Beginner skills and have completed that class.  This class will teach rhythmic breathing, back stroke, and other Red Cross Swim Skills.

Level I Intermediate- 11:45am: Participants in this class will need to be capable of swimming 1 full length of the pool with rhythmic breathing without stopping and are comfortable in deep water.  Students in this class will learn rotary breathing, endurance and correct the strokes like back crawl.  The class will teach other strokes like breaststroke and butterfly per request of participants.

  • Session II: March 3 – April 21

New Sessions:

  • Session I: May 5- June 23
  • Session II: June 30- August 18

County Fee: $70 per session (8 classes)

Non-County Fee: $87 per session (8 classes)

Swim Programs

 CPR Saturdays

This is the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Class. Class will cover standard first aid with CPR/AED for Adult and Child. If participants are interested in adding the infant module, it will increase the class length and must be noted during registration. This certification lasts for 2 years. Please bring lunch/snacks and drink.

Blended Lifeguarding Class

Fee:    $250

$215.00 paid to Johnson Park and $35 paid to Red Cross by Credit Card to enroll Online.

Prerequisite Swim Test:

  • July 30- 4:00 p.m- 7:00 p.m.

Session Dates & Times:  

  • August 6, 8, 11   4:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.

 

Lifeguard Review Course

This class is for people who already have a lifeguarding certification. The candidates must bring in a copy of their
certification on the first day.

Fee: $175 must be enrolled 4 days prior to class

Class Dates and Times:

  • May 26 & May 27- 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • August 25 & August 26 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

 

 Prerequisite:  Candidates must be 15 years of age by the final scheduled lesson and complete the following skills:

Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.  Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed.  Candidates will tread water for 2 minutes using only legs.  Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds; Beginning in water swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to the starting point.  Candidates must then exit the water without the use of a ladder.

 If you are unable to complete the prerequisites as required by the American Red Cross, you will not be able to attend or participate in the class.  The Blended Learning Classes involve an online portion to the class and ALL students will be required to have access to www.classes.redcross.org

NOTE: If you do not pass the prerequisite you will receive a 50% refund. If you do not successfully complete the

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training class after successfully completing the prerequisite requirement, you will not be eligible for a refund. If you do not successfully complete the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training class after successfully completing the prerequisite requirement, you will not be eligible for a refund.
