It is imperative that the owner of a missing dog visit the shelter at least weekly in an effort to find a lost dog.
Owners may call the shelter and inquire as to whether their dog has been impounded. However, it is in the best interest of a missing dog that owners visit the shelter because many dogs have very similar characteristics.
Impounded dogs may be reclaimed at the shelter:
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Select Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The fees to reclaim a dog are as follows:
- $30.00 Impoundment fee first impound/second impound within 12 months $45/ third $60
- $ 5.00 Per night board/ $10 night for quarantined
- $12.00 Prepayment for legally required rabies vaccine, if not current.Owners must have a photo identification to reclaim an impounded pet. Impounded animals brought to the shelter as strays are held for 72 hours for an owner to reclaim.
