The Rockdale County Auditorium was bustling with residents today for the BOC meetings.  The Zoning Public Hearing was scheduled at 9:00 am with a robust agenda including the adoption of the Sigman Road Gateway Corridor Plan.  Also, the Rockdale County Finance Director Roselyn Miller presented a proposal on the millage rate decrease (from 20.19 to 18.90) to BOC to close out the Millage Rate Public Hearing. 

The BOC Voting session opened with a video tribute to the late Congressman John Lewis followed by a moment of silence.  The agenda also included two proclamations.

The BOC declared Tuesday, July 28, 2020 was Candy McCullough Recognition Day in Rockdale County.  Ms. McCullough is celebrating 27 years as a Rockdale County Employee who will retire on July 31st

Ms. Imani Williams, and Mr. Sundiata Washington graduates of the Rockdale County School District were presented with a proclamation for community activism.  Ms. Williams is a student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill while Mr. Washington is a senior at Tuskegee University. 

Director Toni Holmes acknowledged the service anniversaries with a Spring 2020 Honorees video of the following employees.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the health organizations encourage the use of face coverings to reduce the risk of infection when combined with other prevention efforts such as social distancing and hand hygiene.  The BOC agenda included a resolution on face coverings.

2020-339:  A Resolution addressing the wearing of a face covering or mask while in public places to control and prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health, safety and welfare of citizens of Rockdale County, Georgia.  The BOC passed the resolution and an ordinance will be prepared for review. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, there was a video memorial for Rockdale County Sheriff Deputy Steven Minor.  There was a moment of silence that also included both Deputy Minor and Judge Horace Johnson.
