The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners held a voting session at Tuesday’s virtual BOC meeting. The virtual meeting covered the agenda as presented. There were a few agenda items requiring clarification for the public.
2020-210: Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Recreation & Maintenance – Grant/Shady Grove Community Park/Acquisition and Development – $58,000 – through 12/31/22. With approved SPLOST funds and a grant from GDNR the county will purchase 1.2 acres of land from the Shady Grove Church. Recreation and Maintenance Director Sue Sanders says the land is required to make improvement to the park. The BOC approved the agenda item.
2020-225: Requisition– Recreation & Maintenance –Graham County Land Company – Grinding and removal of tree debris- $83,032. In preparation of reopening the recycling center, the contract tree debris will be removed when personnel return to work. The BOC approved the agenda item.

- Fire Chief and EMA Director Dan Morgan reported that Rockdale County has 266 COVID-19 cases and 9 deaths. Drive up testing is available at the Conyers First Baptist Church, 1200 Highway 138. No doctor referral is necessary. Residents must schedule an appointment by calling 770-513-5631.
- Rockdale County employees are scheduled to return to work June 1 through July 6. Talent Management Director Toni Holmes stated that all employees will receive PPE, sanitizing and disinfection stations will be located throughout county buildings and facilities.
- Public Relations and Marketing Director Jorge Diez acknowledged Audio/Visual Production Coordinator Sean Kimball and Tommy Clack for their work on the Memorial Day Celebration that was posted on social media. - The Rockdale Tennis Center has been awarded a $5,000 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Facility Recovery Grant Award to assist in reopening the facility on June 8. Recreation and Maintenance Director Sue Sanders says the grant will help defray some of the tennis-related expenses associated with reopening the tennis center.
