Rockdale County Kicks Off the Holiday Season with the Annual Tree Lighting Celebration and New Tradition, Lights @ Costley Mill

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – Rockdale County invites the public to escape the winter blues and share in the warm spirit of the holidays at its annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Sun., Dec. 2 to be held at its newest destination, Costley Mill Park. The weather forecast includes snow for the ceremony which begins at 6:00 pm.  Gates will open at 5:00 pm and this one-night event is free.

For the five weekends following the Tree Lighting, Rockdale County will offer Lights @ Costley Mill.  Costley Mill Park will transform into a holiday wonderland with thousands of lights creating a glowing canopy throughout the main entrance of the park.   To kick off the holiday season, visitors can hear caroling by local choirs, capture photos with visitors from the North Pole, make crafts at Santa’s workshop, visit a petting zoo, and much more.

“We are excited to offer Lights at Costley Mill as a local alternative during the holiday season,” says Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr.  “The community can come together to enjoy the festivities and activities created for the holidays at this inaugural event.”

This five-weekend celebration will be open nightly, Thursday through Sunday, from December 6, 2018 – January 6, 2019.  Tickets will go on sale October 23rd.  Gates will open at 5:30 pm nightly and the festivities will begin promptly at 6:00 pm.  Admission is $5 per person, $3 for Senior Citizens (62 & Over), and free to children under 2.  Tickets are limited to park capacity so advanced purchase is strongly encouraged.  Some tickets may be available for purchase at the gate depending on advanced sales – updates will be made available on advanced sold out dates on the County’s website and social media.

Costley Mill Park is located at 2599 NE Salem Church Road, Conyers, GA  30018.  Traffic from SR 138 will be routed to Salem Church Road by way of Dial Mill Road.
