Rockdale Community Ambassadors Host 1st Trash Bash Clean-Up in 2018
CONYERS, Ga. – Due to weather conditions, the Rockdale Community Ambassadors have moved the date for their first “Trash Bash” clean-up event to Saturday, May 12, weather permitting. The event will still take place in Zone 1, the Irwin Bridge Area from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meet up location will be at the Board of Commissioner’s Office, 962 Milstead Avenue in Conyers. If weather conditions change, the date will change to Saturday, May 26th.
Created by Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr., Rockdale Community Ambassadors is a volunteer executive board that promotes Rockdale County in a positive light. Within the Trash Bash campaign, there will be four separate community clean-up events, each hosted in four different parts of the county throughout the year.
The dates and locations for each event are as follows:
- May 12 – Zone 1 -Irwin Bridge Area
- June 9 – Zone 2 – Windridge and Queenie Woods Neighborhoods
- August 11 – Zone 3 – Johnson Park Area
- October 6 – Zone 4 – Ogelsby Bridge Area

Three ambassadors will serve as the lead contact for their zones:
- Daniel Whidby – Zone 1 and Zone 3
- Jerry Sheppard – Zone 2
- Jessica Ivey – Zone 4
These ambassadors will act as liaisons for their zones and will be a point of contact for the residents in those areas after the clean-ups are done. They will notify code enforcement about any complaints or concerns they hear.
Each clean-up event will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and food will be provided by Papa John’s and Kroger.
